This is a new cover design for Hermann Hesse's 4 books. Those are Demian, The glass bead game, Narcissus und Goldmund and Beneath the wheel.
Demian's cover was designed by its famous qoutes; The bird struggles out of the egg. The egg is the world. Who would be born must first destroy a world. The bird then flies to God. That God's name is Abraxas.
The glass bead game's cover was designed by its demonstration about glass bead games. the book doesn't tell about what exactly look like of the glass bead game. That point was fun to me. So I designed it graphically by its (very abstract) demontrations.
Narcissus und Goldmund's cover was designed by characters' feats. Narcissus represents emotions and Goldmund represents reason. they contrasts each other but they seeks the road for god, as a same. So I expressed about it graphically.
Beneath the wheel is a story about a boy who couldn't find his own way. He was young and smart but he's capabillity was not for studying. So he corrupted by other's expectations. That's the why author named this story Beneath the wheel. This cover design wasn't hard. I follow literal meaning.
Entirely, I concentrated them to has a feeling about Hermann Hesse's romanticism.
